Why are natural abilities a good measure for a best-fit career?

Productivity A true ability or aptitude is not something you must learn, it is something that comes easily to you. When a particular task comes quickly and effortlessly to a person, they often also have greater accuracy, speed, and productivity.  that is a true ability.   A weak ability takes more time or makes it more difficult to do that same task. 

Fulfillment  People using their natural abilities will feel more fulfilled if they have a work or hobby outlet for their abilities.  Not using one’s natural abilities can also be a source of feeling like you are not in the right career, or that your work is not satisfying.

Empowers Accomplishment  People can accomplish many things for which they have little or no talent.  But they may not be happy or satisfied doing those things if they really have little natural ability or talent for them. 

Why do you use the Highlands Ability Battery?

This assessment is a scientific, accurate, objective, measurement evaluation process.  Aptitude testing provides highly reliable data about your innate abilities based on performance, not your perception.  This is not a self-report, where you rate yourself.

These aptitudes are so key to our wiring that to NOT use them often creates a nagging sense of overall dissatisfaction with work, especially when we get older. 

Objective information is incredibly important about your aptitudes when you are making career decisions. 

I did quite a bit of research to find a top test with accurate career matches.  I found the HAB is known for the highest accuracy, reliability, and my experience with the HAB has strong results with on target career matches for my clients. 

How do you take the HAB?

The 3-hour HAB is taken online, and at your home at a time of your convenience.  You may take as many breaks as you wish by signing in and out in between work samples that average 10 minutes each.    The timing is up to you.  Some people finish in a day, some finish in a week.

How long does it take to finish the project?

You set the timing.  On average clients take 1-3 weeks to finish due to school and other time commitments.  Everyone needs the time to digest reports and to choose 3-5 top career candidates to discuss.

What is included in the assessment?

Instructions with the assessment keycode.  50+ pages of 4 reports are available immediately after.

Service includes an initial Q&A meeting, other surveys for a whole-person view, and a 2-hour debrief to review all of your results plus discussion, pros/cons, and “why” for your career picks to help you arrive at your best-fit career decision and more.  

How many career matches do you receive?

Many career matches across many industries, not the “one.”  Ther are two match summaries.  One is a Top 50 careers in rank order.  The second matches you first to top skills on a list of 69, and then you receive a page of career matches for each top skill.

What are natural abilities?

A natural ability that makes it easy for you to do something well.   A talent, an innate ability.  Innate means your God-given natural abilities that are hard-wired at birth.  Derived from the mind, not experience or what you learn in school.  Belonging to the essential nature of you.

What determines your scores and career matches?

Your scores are based on how many work samples you complete in the given time, how many are correct, and how you compare to the “norm” group of 10,000 past HAB clients over the last 5 years.    

This is not an interest survey or a school test where you want a very high score.  There are no passing/failing, or good/bad scores – just measures to accurately describe the person and their abilities.  For example, some high percentiles indicate a certain reasoning ability, while a low percentile indicates another reasoning ability.  Low scores do not mean that you do not have any abilities. 

Everyone has a mix of high, medium, and low scores. It is the combination of all of your score levels that use algorithms to rank order your combinations with 69 skill combinations and correlating careers in a range of industries.
